spotting scope being used at Thol Bird Sanctuary

On 13-01-08, took the spotting scope to Thol and found it useful. We used it without the tripod.
Here you see Dilip posing with the scope

Little Dhwani instead found the water more interesting!

My Review of Zhumell 20-60x80mm Angled Spotting Scope

Good for Birdwatching

By Avi from Baroda, India on 12/19/2007

4out of 5

Pros: Bright Eyepiece, Sensitivity Controls, Strong Magnification

Cons: Heavy

Best Uses: Bright Conditions, Low Visibility

Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational

This is a good scope for birdwatching/ nature viewing- gives good, crisp images from 20x to 60x. However it is rather heavy & cumbersome for the field especially while travelling by public transport over rough terrain in India. Plan to take it to Kenya next year. I have had it for just 6 days & have yet to be able to aim it accurately at the skies - guess I will need to get used to it. However, my principle use is birdwatching as I already have a telescope to view the heavens above!
All in all it is good value for money. However, by the time it arrived in India with shipping costs & customs duty, the price zoomed from US$ 228 to nearly US$400 - Well that is international shopping! Would also like to commend the ease of shopping & good service from Binoculars.com & especially Patricia who promptly & efficiently responded to all my queries.
